Contemporary Art Works of the 2000s in the Context of Relationship with Architecture
Unexpected Encounters is an attempt to create a broad selection of art works exhibited since 2000 that establish strong relationships with the architectural space surrounding them. This time period was determined to capture the pulse of contemporary discourse by focusing on recent works in the visual arts that have an architectural dimension. The common points of the works in the selection are their claim to a place, a space, their engagement with the concepts of enclosure and being enclosed, and their challenging of the utilitarian and functional expectations imposed on the architectural context. The selection, which includes one work from each of 50 artists, also features short texts about the works.
