HAYALPEREST YAYINEVI
Sanat Eğitiminde Estetik by Aygül Aykut
A song expressing longing, a poem written in the name of love, or a painting depicting war, all evoke different emotional states in us. The connection that art creates with our emotional world is evident. When we begin to think about art, we find ourselves sensing a different kind of knowledge. Even in its most isolated state, human thought, with its many emotional states, is aware of the relationship that art establishes with the concepts of beauty, taste, and pleasure. Art is a seemingly limitless, subjective, sensory-acquired, special realm of knowledge and experience. Most of us experience the difficulty of reaching a common ground when it comes to tastes.
The first discussions about art were initiated by the ancient philosopher Plato with the question, "What is beauty?" Since then, much has been said about art. However, although the relationship between "art" and "beauty" continued until the Enlightenment, it is difficult to find a single answer to this question in the history of philosophy. Just like the fundamental questions of philosophy, "What is reality or truth?" Of course, we cannot expect all the questions in the history of philosophical aesthetics to be discussed in this book. What interests us are the connections between the concepts of "art," "good," "truth," "reality," and "beauty" and art and other types of knowledge; for example, the personal and social differences that arise when it comes to art and aesthetics, and the reflection of aesthetics in the field of art education.

A song about longing, a poem written in the name of love, or a painting depicting war, all of us are moved to different emotional states. The connection between art and our emotional world is obvious. When we start to think about art, we intuit a different kind of knowledge. Even in its most isolated state, human thought, with its many emotional states, is aware of the relationship that art establishes with the concepts of beauty, taste, and pleasure. Art is a subjective, sensory, specialized field of knowledge and experience that seems limitless. Most of us find it difficult to agree on a common point when it comes to taste.
Plato, one of the ancient thinkers, started the first discussions about art with the question “what is beautiful”. Since then, many things have been said about art. However, although the relationship between “art” and “beauty” continues until the Enlightenment, it is difficult to find a single answer to this question in the history of philosophy. Just like the questions of “what is real or true” at the foundation of philosophy. Of course, we cannot expect all the questions in the history of philosophical aesthetics to be discussed in this book. What interests us is the connection of the concepts of “art”, “good”, “truth”, ‘reality’ and “beauty” with art and other forms of knowledge, for example, the personal and social differences that arise when it comes to art and aesthetics, and the projection of aesthetics in the field of art education.
