Double Portrait, an imagination embodied in images and words. Love and the joy and sorrow that come with birth;
Fear of loss, identity, childhood, motherhood, memory; an archive of a personal journey that questions the portrait tradition and the psychological aspects of photography. The book invites us to search for and remember the meaning of hugging and being hugged, regardless of gender-related social norms. Double Portrait is a record of a 9-year research process in which the mother-child relationship is transformed into a real-time observation system through different lenses. Double Portrait is an atlas of the complexity and layering of the mother-child relationship. A visual response to the day everyone lost or will lose their mother, a day they don't want to remember or even imagine. It's about feelings we are all emotionally familiar with but can't easily describe; feelings we understand when we have them, comprehend when we feel them, and notice when they are gone. It is a state of being that we carry to someone when they hold us, and that we still carry to them when they don't hold us.
