Utanma Benden by Sinan Tuncay
Artist and director Sinan Tuncay was born in Istanbul in 1986. After completing his undergraduate studies in Visual Communication Design at Sabancı University, he pursued graduate studies in photography and video at the School of Visual Arts in New York. His works have been featured in numerous international group exhibitions; they are included in the permanent collections of many private collections as well as institutions such as Istanbul Modern, Musée de l’Elysée, and Odunpazarı Modern Museum. He opened his first solo exhibition, "I'm Sorry Leyla," in New York in 2016, and was awarded a scholarship by the New York Art Foundation that same year. He garnered significant attention with the music videos he designed and directed for artists such as Sezen Aksu, Sertab Erener, Mabel Matiz, and Gaye Su Akyol, winning prestigious "Music Video of the Year" awards, including the Golden Butterfly Award. His third solo exhibition, "For the Men I Couldn't Be," opened in Istanbul in 2019. Simultaneously with the exhibition, the paper doll book titled "Don't Be Ashamed of Me" was put on sale. Tuncay continues his photography and video work between New York and Istanbul.
